BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Authorities are investigating a reported explosion at mosque in a Minneapolis suburb.

Police say no one was injured in the Saturday incident at the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington.

The explosion happened in the imam's office at about 5 a.m., starting a fire and damaging one room. About 15 to 20 people were gathered for morning prayers at that time.

Asad Zaman, director of the Muslim-American Association of Minnesota, said a witness saw someone standing by the imam’s office window before the blast and also saw a truck flee the scene. He says the imam’s window was broken and a small fire bomb was thrown inside.

Mohamed Omar, executive director of the center, said the center occasionally receives threatening calls and emails.

Bloomington police Chief Jeff Potts said Saturday that investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blast. Bloomington police tweeted that the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation.

The Muslim American Society of Minnesota says there will be a news conference at noon Saturday to address the attack. In a Facebook post, the group says it "condemns the attack on Darul Farooq Center this morning. We urge the community to be calm and remain safe."

Zaman said the the Muslim American Society of Minnesota is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Dar Al-farooq Islamic Center serves as a religious center and a community organizing platform. It hosts hundreds of Muslims for prayers every Friday.
